Heat-related Illness prevention: Research and lessons learned from athletics

July 16, 2019

Heat-related illness (HRI) significantly impacts athletes, especially in hot and humid climates. HRI is the third leading cause of death among high school athletes. Practitioners of occupational industries with greater outdoor exposure can apply lessons learned from athletics to help prevent and diagnose HRI.

On July 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. we invite you to join us for the July 2019 SCCAHS webinar as Dr. Eric Coris discusses heat-related pathology including the risk factors, as well as ways of assessing, treating, and preventing HRI. Dr. Coris brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a sports medicine researcher and the head medical team physician at the University of South Florida.
