Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE) uses biological or chemical indicators in sewage for the purpose of public health surveillance to provide information about the health of a community. WBE has been used to measure the prevalence of human viruses at the population level and recent studies have extensively tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Information from these studies can inform mitigation strategies and policies for communities.

In our upcoming webinar, hear from Dr. Tara Sabo-Attwood as she shares information from WBE studies for SARS-CoV-2 monitoring in Florida and implications for strategies to reduce viral infections. Furthermore, Dr. Sabo-Attwood will discuss other WBE studies that analyze exposure to different chemical substances, including opioids and pesticides, and associated outcomes that impact urban communities and rural and agricultural regions in the US.
